February got off to a slow start in my makeup world as I was treated to a surprise holiday trip to Brisbane. :) Although I wasn't working in Townsville - I was definitely enjoying having all the makeup stores in my immediate area! Can anyone say MAC PRO STORE...I may have max out the business card! OOPS!
When I returned to Townsville, I got a very random Facebook Message from Damien at 99.9 Live FM (The run home with Damo Show). Apparently they were holding a competition for people to call up and say what crazy things they would do to win a family pass to EasterFest. Andrew called in stating he would dress up as a women and walk the entire length of The Strand, so ultimately Andrew would need a makeover to prepare him for his journey. The next day Andrew was sitting in my Makeup chair being glamourised with airbrush foundation, a pair of ModelRock lashes & having his pink wig styled. He was such a good sport about it and I even joined him on his walk along The Strand - to offer touch ups to ensure he stayed looking fabulous the entire way. Crazy experiences like this mean there is never a dull moment!
A highlight of my month was organising a maternity shoot for one of my beautiful models and friend, Syrita. I got to work with my amazing & talented partner Lloyd (Banks Photography), which was exciting because it was both our first time working on a maternity shoot. I wanted to use a 4M length of blue chiffon to wrap around Syrita and create a soft & elegant look when it was blowing in the wind. We chose to shoot at Pallarenda point as it was always windy down there are the beach setting would be an amazing back drop but would you believe there wasn't even a slight breeze. This meant to create the flowing fabric look I had to throw the fabric in the air and run out of shot as fast as I could without tripping in the soft sand....things you do to get the shot! The images came out amazing and Syrita loved them...mission accomplished!

As well as large makeup hauls, crazy man to lady transformations & beautiful maternity shoots - February & the start of March was time for weddings. 2015 must be the wedding year, as I'm pretty much booked out every weekend! What I have realised is I definitely need to learn to take more photos of my work but when I'm at a wedding I love giving 110% of my attention to the bride and her bridal party! Most of these images are of my hair styling but I'm hoping some of my lovely brides will send through some of their professional photos that will showcase my work much better then my terribly taken iPhone photos. I'm really enjoying being apart of all my brides wedding days and love always going above & beyond their expectations! Whether that means stitching a bridesmaid into her dress cause it was 2 sizes to big, fixing a disastrous makeup job from another artist just in the nick of time (as I was only hair styling for the bridal party) & ensuring that even the pickiest bridesmaid loved her makeup! :D
